Cristina Dancila, nata a Iasi, in Romania, da famiglia di tradizioni musicali, ha iniziato lo studio del violino all’ età di cinque anni prima con la nonna, e successivamente, con il nonno, Docente all’Accademia di Musica di Iasi. Con il trasferimento dei genitori in occidente, ha proseguito gli studi musicali con la madre, Mariana Sirbu, e poi in Germania e in Italia con Stefan Gheorghiu.
Ha conseguito il Diploma di Conservatorio in violino con il massimo dei voti. Parallelamente ha compiuto la sua formazione culturale presso la Scuola Europea di Varese.
Ha frequentato per quattro anni consecutivi, alla Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, i corsi di perfezionamento di Norbert Brainin.
Ha collaborato e collabora con artisti come: Bruno Canino, Anthony Pay, Carlo Bruno, membri dell`Orlando Quartet, Pepe Romero, Albert Attenelle, Guido Corti, Patrick Demmanga, Pier Narciso Masi, Alain Meunier, etc. ed ha suonato in varie formazioni cameristiche dal Duo all`Ottetto.
Con il Quartetto Beethoven di Roma ha intrapreso nel 2006 una importante tournee di concerti in Sud America.
Nel 1994 insieme alla violinista Mariana Sirbu, al violista Massimo Paris ed al violoncellista Mihai Dancila ha fondato il Quartetto Stradivari. Sin dal suo debutto il Quartetto Stradivari ha riscontrato un caloroso successo di pubblico e di critica ed è invitato regolarmente ad esibirsi per numerose società di Concerti e Festivals Internazionali. Con questo complesso ha suonato in alcune delle piu` importanti sale da concerto in Argentina, Italia, Germania, Irlanda, Spagna, Francia, Olanda, Cina, Colombia, Thailandia, Giappone, Uruguay, etc. ed ha inciso alcuni CD con quartetti di Haydn e Quintetti con chitarra di Boccherini con Pepe Romero. È di recente produzione il cofanetto con tre CD contenente la serie completa dei Quintetti per Archi di Mozart che ha inciso per Dynamic di Genova con Il suo quartetto.
CRISTINA DANCILA was born in Iasi, Romania, into a family with long musical traditions. She started studying violin with her grandmother at the age of five and later with her grandfather Gheorghe Sirbu, who taught violin at the Iasi Academy of Music.
After the family moved to Western Europe in 1977, she continued her studies with her mother, Mariana Sirbu and later with Stefan Gheorghiu in Germany and Italy, while completing her education at the European School in Varese.
Cristina attended Norbert Brainin’s (leader of the Amadeus Quartet) masterclasses in Florence for four years and she graduated with Honours in Violin and Chamber music.
Since starting her career, in addition to her playing as a soloist, Cristina also performed in various chamber music groups with artists such as Bruno Canino, Anthony Pay, Carlo Bruno, Pepe Romero, Albert Attenelle, Patrick Demenga, Alain Meunier members of the Orlando Quartet and Quartetto Beerthoven di Roma with whom she took part in a very successful tour of South America which included two concerts in the famous Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
In 1994 Cristina co-founded the Quartetto Stradivari together with violinist Mariana Sirbu, violist Massimo Paris and cellist Mihai Dancila,. Since its debut the quartet has been very well received on numerous world tours. These include acclaimed visits to major concert halls in Argentina, Italia, Germania, Irlanda, Spagna, Francia, Olanda, China, Colombia, Thailand, Japan, Uruguay, etc.
The Quartetto Stradivari made numerous CD recordings, notably the Haydn Quartets & the Boccherini Quintets with guitarist Pepe Romero. Their most recent recording is a three CD set of Mozart’s String Quintets published by Dynamic of Genova.
